COTTAGE DANCE ACADEMY IS NOW
VANCOUVER MOVEMENT COLLECTIVE!
When we first opened our doors, Cottage Dance Academy wasn’t just a name—it was a reflection of warmth, welcome, and the joy of starting something beautiful. We built a cozy, encouraging space where dancers of all ages and backgrounds could feel at home.
That spirit hasn’t changed. But our vision has grown.
Over the past three years, something extraordinary has unfolded:
• A community that moves together.
• A collective of dancers, artists, families, and teachers who lift each other up.
• A passion that extends far beyond the walls of one studio.
Now, we’re embracing a name that reflects that evolution:

Vancouver grounds us in our beloved home—Vancouver, Washington—and all the strength, resilience, and creativity that defines our community.
Movement is not only what we do—it’s who we are. We move bodies, yes, but also hearts and minds.
Collective speaks to our spirit: united, collaborative, and inclusive.
This isn’t just a name change. It’s a declaration of who we’re becoming:
• A space for bold, expressive, expansive choreography and dance
• A hub for performance, innovation, and growth
• A movement you’re invited to be part of.
Still the same roots. New branches.
Vancouver Movement Collective will continue to offer the same welcoming classes, devoted teachers, and strong sense of family you’ve always known. But now, we’re expanding—into more styles, more opportunities, more connection.
We’re not just teaching dance.

Rip City Remix Half Time Performance:
January 18th, 2026 @ 3pm
Vancouver Movement Collective's Performance Company will be performing at the half time show for the Rip City Remix's game against Memphis Hustle. They are sure to put on a great show in the middle of a fun game! Come watch some basketball and catch a great dance performance.

Upcoming Winter Show January 30th & 31st
"The Girl with the Golden Hands"
For this year's Winter Show VMC is proud to present Artistic Director Chloe Mason's original choreographic adaptation of the fairytale "The Girl with the Golden Hands." This will be VMC's biggest show yet and you don't want to miss it.

We Competed in our first competition and WE WON!
This year, for the first time ever, the CDA Performance Company (now Vancouver Movement Collective) competed in the Star Classic Dance Competition. The day was amazing and everyone did so well! Amelia Burik's (FIRST EVER!) solo scored a Silver and Avery Mason's solo scored High Gold, was awarded Overall Soloist in the Advanced category, and scored the Judges Choice Award for all soloists. Our CDA (now VMC) Team scored Gold and received the Overall Team High Score in the Advanced category. We also got Overall Studio Grand Champion in the Small Studio Division. If that all wasn’t enough, our Studio received the Glow Award—given to the Studio that shows passion, character and charisma on and off the stage, has dancers and staff who are friendly and encouraging to each other, other competitors and event staff. Way to go competition team!!!
