"The Girl with the Golden Hands"
An original choreographic work by Artistic Director Chloe Masson

Once upon a time, in a quiet village nestled at the edge of a dark forest, there lived a kind and gentle girl. Her family was poor but content, and she spent her days tending to her garden, caring for animals, and helping those in need.
One cold winter, her father, desperate for money, made a deal with a mysterious stranger who promised riches in exchange for “what stands behind your house.” Thinking it was only a withered apple tree, the father agreed. But it was his daughter who had been standing behind the house.
The stranger was no ordinary being—she was a dark sorcerer who dealt in twisted bargains. She came back to claim the girl. But when she tried to take her, the sorcerer was unable to touch her. Furious, she cursed her:
“If I cannot take you, I will take your touch!”
And with that, the sorcerer forced the father to cut off the girl’s hands. The girl’s pure tears turned them to solid gold. Useless. Heavy. Cold. Her mother, frightened and ashamed, sent the girl away. Alone and unable to care for herself, the girl wandered into the forest. There, she found shelter among the forest sprites. Animals gathered to keep her warm. The Queen of the Forest came to her aid. Birds brought her berries. Wolves guarded her. The forest knew her heart was good.
One day, a prince passed through the woods and found the golden-handed girl sleeping beneath a blanket of moss and moonlight. Moved by her story and her strength, he brought her back to his castle and made her his queen. She could not touch him, but her words warmed the coldest days, and her songs softened the hardest hearts.
Years passed. She grew into a wise and radiant queen, beloved across the kingdom.
But the sorcerer had not forgotten her.
She returned in disguise, along with her messenger, poisoning the minds of the people and turning them against her. In the darkness of winter, she was exiled again. Heartbroken, the prince begged her to run until he could set things right.
Alone once more, the girl wandered through ice and silence, until she came upon a frozen spring deep in the forest. She was visited by both Hope and Despair— which would she choose? The girl knelt to drink, and the tears she shed melted the ice. As her tears mixed with the spring water, the Queen of the Forest whispered:
“The warmth of your heart has undone the curse.” And slowly, her golden hands softened and returned to flesh.
When spring came, she returned to the kingdom—not as a queen in gold, but as a healer with kind hands. The people welcomed her back. The sorcerer and her messenger vanished into the wind, never to be seen again.
And the girl ruled, not with wealth or magic, but with wisdom, compassion, and touch.
